Meal Plan Monday



Its the last day of February...already!. This year is flying by...summer is coming...so the healthy eating continues. Its been fun looking for lower calorie meals..and tweaking existing ones. I have also discovered that hubby loathes brown rice...so white rice it has to be..but stick a stock or garlic cube in with the water and its a different flavour altogether. Have a great week

Sad Times...

What do you do when two people you love..decide they dont love each other anymore? I guess you try to be there for them...even though they are five thousand miles away!!

After two and a half short years..my son and daughter in law are getting a divorce. There are a few reasons why...and its not my place to say what..but suffice to say it all came as a shock to me, They are both very upset. They tried.. but it wasnt to be.


I love them both...and being in the middle, trying to be objective, and giving them both support and encouragement has been upsetting and very tiring.. I have been there for them both..day and night..and the eight hour time difference has been the killer. Im terrible at advice...but my shoulders are big enough to cry on

But...things have calmed down a little now. They have a lot of upheaval ahead. Divorce is never easy. But they are both strong. All I can do is continue to do what I have been doing..listening...and loving.

Meal Plan Monday



Im still here! I know I have been MIA but I have been dealing with a few family matters back in the Uk. Its all very sad..but I will tell you about it tomorrow...well bits of it anyway.
Just to tell you that things this side of the pond are still very happy..and my weight loss over the last couple of weeks has been steady. So heres this weeks menu... all trimmed so they fit in with my diet plan

Cousins

 Happy Birthday to my dear cousin, who is six months older than me.

This is a photo taken of us many moons ago at our aunts wedding in the early 60s. She had been crying because she wanted a handbag like mine...so Grandma placated her with hers.

We havent changed much. She still has her sense of style...I still have the chubby cheeks!

Surprise!!

I have said it before....and I will say it again....I have a wonderful, loving, thoughtful and supportive husband. I will now add sneaky to the list..

He arrived home early yesterday..surprising me when I was up a ladder cleaning on top of the kitchen cabinets..explaining that he was ahead of himself at work and something had been on his mind.

He then dragged me out to the car, opened the trunk....and there was the dinner service I had admired at the weekend. He had returned to the antique mall and bought it for me.

Not only that...he bought the dresser I loved too. We will get it on Saturday

I am a very lucky...and very spoiled girl

A Weighty Matter

Honesty time...

Two weeks ago, MrD and I decided we were going to eat healthier and lose some weight. He, I must say, looks fine to me, but he wants to lose about 10lb. Me on the other hand, well I have loads to get rid of.
Two Years ago....and  96lbs later
Two years ago, through unhappiness, illness and depression, I weighed an embarrassing 306lb. Before I moved to the US, I had lost and amazing 96lb in less than a year

But, unfortunately, married life agrees with me,,, so much so.. that in this the first year.., I have gained 26lb of it back. So, two weeks ago, it was time to take stock, and do something about it. 


Now....Im a great one for believing that, even when dieting, your food should be appealing to the eye and full of flavour. Im not one for cardboard food. I could never stick to a diet if thats all I could eat. So I have been eating 'normal' food, but tweaking the recipes so they are lower in fat and calories.,,just like the ones above 
Thats how I lost the 96lb in the first place...and it seems to be working now.. In the last two weeks I have lost 8.8 lb....and hubby has lost 3lb.

The plan is...Im going to concentrate on getting back down to what I was on my wedding day..this my current one..not my last one... So 18lb to go. Then I will think about getting below 200lb.. Then I will take it step by step til I reach a comfortable weight.

I have a long journey ahead of me...but by the Summer..I shall be a much healthier..and.. hopefully leaner person

Meal Plan Monday


Can you believe its February already...Spring is just around the corner. Mr D and I are watching our weight right now so we can feel a bit more comfortable when Summer comes. I still want us to eat well so all our meals this week have been tweaked so they are still full of flavour..but with fewer calories
